Hi all, I need to replace the CAS in my VN Calais “Series 1.5” (Series II car with Series I engine). About a year ago I replaced the harmonic balancer with a new Powerbond one. When I removed the old one I used a puller from Supercheap and got the correct bolts and washers from Bunnings and had it out relatively easily after removing the bolt. However it seems the new balancer, even though it has the 3 holes, doesn’t have any threads to screw into. And there’s no way it will just pull off either. I’m now really starting to regret not doing both at the same time...

Probably need the correct puller however, I did remove one on a vp using a simple steering wheel puller and bent hook ends on the bolts to hook into the holes on the balancer
Is there enough room to use nuts and washers on the bolts ?

A Bearing Puller will do the trick.

They used to be about $140 but everything Commodore has gone up a lot compared to 12 months ago, somethings have doubled in price. I have also noticed that the amount of Commodore parts for sale online have probably halved in the last 12 months. Spares Box in particular have really reduced the range of VR parts available over the last 12 months, so much so that the are far from the cheapest place to buy from like they used to be.

It's the kind of part you try to beg, borrow or steal for the job rather than buy for the one-off occasion.
