sounds about right.
here you can get a good vt average km's for 7-9k
vr-vs 5-7k
and vn-vp you can pick up from 1200-5k max depending how good it is.
These are caryard prices.
makes sense considering how many are out there.

No way.. You can't buy an 03 VY for 9 grand..

You can barely get a 1999 VT Exec for that much..

my brother in law was looking around for a VT11 a few weeks ago... I thought piece of piss, he'll pick one up cheap as!
he ended up with a 1999 VT 11 with 189,000k's on it for $8,900 (he had a budget of $9,000) it had some good stereo gear & in good cond. logbooks etc.as soon as they have 100,000 k's or thereabouts, they seem to command an extra couple of grand....

brought my Calais for $13,000 approx 3 years ago...

now shes lucky to pull $7500.

not as bad as some of the newer cars, but calais seem to drop heaps quick...

whats the go with VL's? they hold they value like nothing else.

it seems that anytime you buy a car over $5,000 you stand to lose a lot in the first year or so.

if I ever borrowed over $5000 to buy a car I think I would buy a diesel 4wd next time around. these seem to hold there value better than anything. especially 4wd utes.

I'm I paid $13,750 for a 1 year old VY2 last Sept. Thats what they go for. BA's aren't much better.

If you want to see depreciation check Audi or the HSV Grange.

you're still paying a couple of grand for a nice VL exec....
you can get a nice VN for the same....

maybe we just disagree, but its something I have noticed over the last few years

Sounds Good to me!

Let's see. 2004 Executive now worth $23,990.

I bought mine for $23,293 brand new, granted after GST refund.

Does not sound like much of a depreciation problem to me.

yep, depreciation is a killer, no doubt about it. its all about demand and supply. the next few years are going to be very bad for depreciation, due primarily to the fact that australia had another new car sales record year. the glut of new cars on the road is going to kill prices in the second hand market. on the other hand, good for people not in the new car market!

VY Exec 3.8L Sedan 9C1 Pack
main thing i hate about the "depreciation" no one seems to look at accessories, or money put into the car... It's all about what base model it is, and as mines a Exec base, yards are saying, nah, wouldn't pay more than $14k... wtf??? It's power optioned, police pack, big wheels, big stereo... these aren't like adding sticks ffs...

Mine has drop about 5-8k since august 2005...

I'v seen them car yards that give finance to the unemployed and any poor person selling a 92 model VP in normal good condition for $11000. And i'd say it would be sold to people who dont know crap about cars and have no money and need there finance
