- 2011 VE SSV ute
I was asked how I installed puddle lights in my VE ute so I thought I would do a "How To" .
Things you will need:
Glove box lights (from pretty much any commodore)
About 2 meters of wire.
Wire connectors.
Electrical tape.
LED globes.
A dremel or similar.
In the bottom of my ute door cards are some cutouts, they are larger than the glove box lights so measure the lights to see how much you need to cut.
Remove the door cards and mark the cutouts and cutout with your dremel.
Test fit the lights and adjust if needed.
Now run your wires inside the door and out the hole you have just cut.
Cut one wire long enough to attach to an earth, I used a bolt inside the door.
Run the other wire through the door and into the cabin, this can be tricky as it has to go through that rubber tube.
I unplugged the tube and used a piece of stiff wire to pull it through.
Then do the same to get it into the cabin, you will have to remove the kick panels for this.
Now I connected mine to my footwell lighting,if you havent got that you will have to find your interior light wires.
Repeat for the other door, test and put it all back together.
You should end up with this.
Hope that helps some of you out.
