How to replace Battery in VE Key ?

Supposedly Holden does this at service intervals but I have 3 keys and want to do it myself. How do i open the key ?

I got mine done by Holden for $16 a key, thought that was pretty reasonable.

ok what you need to do is
1. flip open the key
2. insert a flat head small enough to fit in the slot if u can get one that is a perfect size the ezr this will be, with it inserted angle it towards the key part and it should pop and slide away from the key
3. now to pop the top off the keypad kinda ezr just put the flat head into the slot you can see and it will pop off change the batt and your done

From memory I think the battery is a CR2032 - Quite common, Dick Smith sells them for $4.30...

I have a non-flip key how do I open the key to get to the battery compartment as my battery is nearly dead. I just don't want to break the key. Could someone help and post some instructions as to how I can change the battery.

As 'veessv' stated in his post, just leave out step 1.

Holden tried me for $150 for this at my last service... I told them where they could stick my flip key.

This youtube video from bradkimberleycars is excellent and will show you how to get into the VE remote. He did mainly for changing the keypad but it gets you into the battery area.

Here are some images of where you will need to jam a flat bladed screwdriver to pop the keypad compartment off.

Once you have gotten past that stage, the rest is easy peasy !
