Hi all, (@RevNev you might be able to help me with this one)

Just got my replacement HUD from a wrecker after bricking my one doing an update (my own fault, don't ask).
Looking at different part numbers, this what I have written down so far. Not a complete list of course...

PartModel YearEngineModelOSCal ID 1Cal ID 2
922805112016LSA, ?VF CALAIS92289162 92284266 92294931
922805092016LFX, ?VF COMMODORE92289164 92284273 92294929
922733032014L77, ?VF CALAIS V92289164 92274239 92294929
922891652017LS3, LFX, ?VF COMMODORE92289164 92284268 92294929
92277948??????

I have never been in a Calais or Commodore. Just wondering what the differences are between the various HUD's?

I pulled the 2 screens apart that I have and there is some slight difference in the component part numbers. What I'm hoping is to just swap the main board over, reflash and be on my way. Anyone have any experiences positive or negative to share?

the components look the same to me, it has the same cpu( sc667221vlu 2m25v ) and memory( S25FL032P )

if you had a dump of the original flash memory you could write it back and unbrick your original unit.
it might be possible to copy the flash dump from one board to the other and make both work but you need programming tools to do it.

there does look to be a difference in pcb revision one has TN457912-1551-C and the other has TN457912-1552-A

if it was me i would plug it in and see what happens, the vehicle will reject it or it will work.

also try ask about it at pcmhacking, some smart people over there https://pcmhacking.net/forums/

Calais/HSV HUD's for a VF2 is part number 92289167 and has better graphics. The SS and Redline HUD is 92289165

If you program the 92289165 with an HSV VIN, the image is a blurred blotch of a few colours, just a mess on the windscreen. With the 92289167 programmed with an HSV VIN, it works as it does in an HSV vehicle with the HSV logo on start up with car graphics that looks like a VF Commodore not a outline of a motor vehicle. Some of the HUD variants aren't compatible with a particular program you may want to load.

You can program the HUD with any VIN and doesn't throw fault codes from VIN mismatches with other modules.

Here's my 92289167 in a Redline Ute programmed with a Maloo VIN and shows my car behind as a VF ute following a VF sedan in front. The HUD was out of 2017 R8 (LSA) sedan and spare parts told me the part number is also relevant to a 2017 Calais V. The Calais Director maybe the same?

Great info. From your post I read it as no matter what the part number it will take the flash. If it displays correctly is another story.
I'm hoping my replacement series 1 HUD which sps lists as a 2014 Calais V 92283303 has the capability to display graphics correctly with the flash from mine which sps lists as a 2016 Calais 92280511.
Won't find out till later today, taking the opportunity to install dash cam wiring and IU10S mirrorlink box while everything is apart.

Yes, they seem to program perfectly then you can check the display for clarity.

This thread is getting interesting. @RevNev has managed to reprogram the HUD multiple times without issue, whereas @hjtrbo has been having issues and may have bricked a couple of units!

IIRC @RevNev is using the Bosch programmer whereas as @hjtrbo is using the VCX Nano? There might be some other differences too?

It’d be interesting to see how the two approaches work (or not!) side by side on the same car and HUD to work out the differences.

Got hold of Holden parts, they said a new one is $1,000 plus programming. My part number of 92280511 has been superseded by 92289167 which is the same as Revnevs one. Currently none available online 2nd hand.

I think my best course of action is to buy the overpriced piece of **** from Holden and let them deal with the update. I'll be sure to get a fixed price quote before giving them the car just in case they have the same issues. At least the new HUD will be on them.

Also have the error trace file from SPS so will get in touch with the Americans next Tuesday when they're back.

How is it getting bricked, reprogramming the HUD or I think you said previously, it was doing the radio upgrade?

Some may disagree, but I began with the Nano and personally I think it's junk and I binned it for the genuine GM Bosch unit and works absolutely flawlessly every time I've used it.
