Intermittent Key Issues - Doors won't lock/unlock but car will start - VT Series 1

As above is a good option - I just wanted to go all new as I intend of keeping the car long term

I grabbed a second hand unit and still had the same problem mine was the connectors had to be changed out so now I have a spare that works and is stored away for the future

Might be a case of a faulty or dirty remote receiver. Or as you said, the BCM.
It's located in the middle, between the demister vents, at the base of the wind screen.

Do you mean drivers side above the pedals bcm or is there a seperate reciever as well not the slip ring
