Even since we move from Sydney to Brisbane I and my extended family have spent a fortune at JB Hi Fi. We have spend over $35,000 on goods from them and if they don't stock them because Jb HI FI Morayfield is a Poor area I get them to get what I want and pay them. For me I prefer to give these people our money instead to go to a high end place to buy our expensive TV's, Amps and other but one day.
I was in there buying 4k Movies and I went into the TV section and I heard a guy giving verbal diarrhea to older person that did not know anything about extended warranties. When the Sales person moved away (did not recognizes him as he was new with new other new staff in the tv section I told the old people there, you dont need extended warranties because the ACCC will protect you on this expensive tv but I did not know the Sales Guy was standing behind me and a shi.t fight started between me and this tool and his other mate came in (did not know him at all) and got the Security to escort me out of the Jb Hi Fi.
The next day I rang ACCC and complain on what did happen and I put it in writing as I was disgusted on this as they should not behaved like this as I have a right to inform anyone EVEN IF I DON'T KNOW THEM that you don't need extended warranties because the ACCC will help you fix the TV if it fails.
I asked ACCC about this, about how many people have complained about this extended warranties and they did not reply, I re-worded it again and don't not answer it but for me that is the clue about the amount of extended warranties failure and the amount of people that has been ripped off.
Most staff at JB's noticed that I was missing maybe they though i could be dead because of my poor health and during their lunch break the spotted me and my family in the food area and was shocked on what happened.. Now this happened 2 months Ago. For me ITS VIDEO PRO (FORGET GOOD GUYs) For Any tv's or other Hi Fi stuff,,,,,, buy our 4K movies anywhere away from jb's because Amazon AU is a JOKE ATM and the AU Dollar is no good to get them from amazon US
Just image we have spent $$$$$$$ for 280 4K movies all from Jb's NEVER AGAIN

Last Night on the News, I was full of JOY.

Regardless of what the salesman says, the customer should always do their own research on whether a product is right for them or not. This is simply the age we live in, trust nobody, double check everything.

If you believe whatever a salesman tells you well a fool and their money are easily parted etc. No salesman has their customers best interests at heart.

Good to see them getting reamed over it finally though, generally any extended warranty whether it's for a used car, appliance etc isn't worth the paper it's written on.

I always refuse the extended warranty as…

A) The odds of something going wrong within the extended warranty period is minimal (the standard warranty is normally plenty of time for any manufacturing defect to show up).

B) The reasonable durability clause from the ACCC covers you during the extended warranty period anyway as you can reasonably argue that the period of the extended warranty is a “reasonable durability period”, after all an extended warranty shouldn’t be easily available for something that has surpassed its reasonable durability timeframe!

Although I do agree (buyer beware), sales staff should not be misleading and most stores are when it comes to extended warranties.

JB HIFI are not great to deal with regardless. I help with NILS loans as does my staff and JB are on the do not use list. They are staffed by young people barely out of high school and they are hopeless to deal with. I stopped going there probably 5 or 6 years ago when they were just open here. Customer service was non-existent and stock of decent brands was often out of stock. They tend to be overpriced too and won't discount like some other stores do like Betta Electrical.

Not a big fan of JB Hi-fi pricing, but I've found their price matching policy to be as good as any retailer.

Quite often I'll find something online and they'll price match it without any hassle. There's a store within a few km from me, and if I can get it straight away, I'll find the best online price and get them to match it and go pick it up.

Quite often I'll find something online and they'll price match it without any hassle. There's a store within a few km from me, and if I can get it straight away, I'll find the best online price and get them to match it and go pick it up.
Online prices are rarely as good as an instore price. So while they might match an advertised price, how do you get on when the store up the road is 10% or more cheaper but you have to ask for the best price. Retailers rarely if ever advertise their best price.

If I send someone for a quote I send them to Betta Electrical. Robert Ferguson is always the cheapest by a decent margin.

If there's a store with a better price and close enough to me, I'll buy it from there.

I haven't been knocked back on any price matching from them though.

Whenever I buy something from jb I always ask them what's the best they can do , and most time they will knock a few bucks off
