21 weeks out of a three year term. Are you seriously that daft?

What an you expect any of them to be at this point? You know how legislation works yeah? Not to mention promises like getting the economy back in order which is a decade long job.

Hes put a very big cork in the boat people issue which was a huge election point. Not quite stopped them completely, but still a what, 90% reduction is pretty damning.

Tomorrow will be 21 weeks since Tony was elected.
What has he achieved in this time?
Has he fulfilled all his promises?

I honestly would like to know

I'd be interested to see what you think he has achieved over this time.

Another company asking for a hand out.

I am somewhat torn on this one. On one hand I totally agree with the tough love, stand on your own two feet mantra. Especially when it comes to a company who is owned by Coca Cola Amatil, who I am fairly sure isnt struggling for a quid.

This will effect the farmers down the track who are already struggling quite a bit. With the very low cost of produce importation, Coca Cola may just opt for the cheaper alternative.

Perhaps tightening up the regulations on importing foreign produce is the answer.

Agree with you there, I would be very surprised if CCA was struggling. Their core business is basically selling sugar water for $3 a litre. Quite profitable. Anyway a big issue is farmers are getting screwed by both supermarket duopoly, and cheap imports.

Unless we want the economy to be utterly white-anted by the cheapness of the 3rd world, some degree of protection is in order.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the importation regulations relaxed a little while ago? I knew the fruit regulations were after the bad cyclone season in Queensland a few years back, but I'm not sure how far that stretched.

When it comes to fruit and veg, I'm happy with some red tape. Not only do we get a fresher, healthier product, we protect an industry really needs a lot of help and actually deserves it.

Don't worry Gren, it's just another lob over the fence from gopher. He specialises in them.

According to the Collins English Dictionary, a gopher is described thus:

"Any burrowing rodent of the family Geomividae, of North and Central America, having a thickset body, short legs and cheek pouches".

You can just picture him, can't you?

Wellllll.....I reckon Grennan's earlier response answered your question.

You obviously believe that a new government can achieve miracles in just 21 weeks, because to clean up any single one of Labor's stuff-ups within that time would take a miracle.

Funny thing is, only Labor supporters seem to think that Abbott claimed to be able to achieve miracles. The rest of us are prepared to give the government the time it needs.

When are you finally going to post a really intelligent, well constructed post, instead of the garbage you spout? Reckon you can achieve that in the next 21 weeks? I doubt it.

Well he ever so easily handed over 16 million to Cadbury for the sake of far fewer jobs, although I have to wonder if they ever got it, he seems to like reneging. He accused Gillard of letting farmers and SPC workers down when she didn't hand over money. He should give the 25 million in my opinion but it shouldn't be ongoing handouts.

A message from Tony Abbott for SPC Ardmona Community Rally > Sharman Stone MP
A message from Tony Abbott for SPC Ardmona Community Rally

SPC Ardmona has had a rich history in the Goulburn Valley working with farmers right across the valley in sourcing their fruits.

- SPC’s recent announcement to halve the amount of fruit they buy from local farmers is a devastating blow to local farmers and comes on the back of already difficult conditions for farmers.

- However the Gillard Government has completely ignored the pleas of farmers and the company alike.

- This is a government in chaos which is completely disregarding you at a time when they should be standing side by side with you and doing whatever they can to support you.

- Australian manufacturing remains in crisis under a government which has seen around 110,000 Australians lose their jobs in the manufacturing sector since 2008.

- This government has a responsibility to stand up and fight for our domestic industries and the urgent processing of anti-dumping and safeguard action investigations should be the first step

- The first thing the Coalition will do is get rid of the carbon tax which is a huge cost for food processing who have high electricity and gas requirements.

edit: I'm a bit amazed the Nationals haven't been up in arms over it.

Beyond Grenan's answer, one simple one is the boats seem to have slowed to a relative trickle.
