The illegality with robodebt lay in the fact that the burden of proof was placed on those who received a notice, to prove their innocence. In other words, guilty until proven innocent, without any consultation or remedial process in place. That's not how the legal system in Australia works. You go to court & the magistrate determines if money is owed. Even worse, the supposed evidence used to issue a request for repayment was based on false information (income averaging) that couldn't stand up in court. Morrison & Dutton knew this & still sent robodebt notices.
What was Dutton's involvement in the robodebt scheme aside from being a LNP MP at the time?
