cheers in advance

Yes.Series III ONLY applies to UTE's.Due to the major model change, whatever left-over from VS series they throw'em in to last ute's and called'em series III.

Also one of the BIG changes I think would probably be the introduction of the V8 block which had the roller cam etc.

I heard that the Series 3 was brought out because the VU ute concept was hit by a p plater in a VP? Sounds like BS to me, as surely Holden would have more than one testing concept.

Looking at my Gregory's manual (I have a VS V6), and it states,

Series 3 pertains to the Utility ( May 1998 - onwards ) and Statesman ( June 1998 - onwards ).

Mostly Cosmetic changes with the following mechanical changes.

1. Modified Engine Sump and Gasket,
2. Computer fault Code 72 (vehicle speed sensor intermittent) has been deleted from use,
3. Significant Changes to the Auto Transmission ( 2 piece case, new support braces to sump, revised deeper oil pan, new filter, extra spacer in the linkage for column shift ute's, inhibitor switch now on side of transmission for colum shift ute's).
4. Diff (Statesman Production No's L261378) with IRS Diff BTRE 78 series have different Crownwheel and Pinion.
5. Clear Side Indicators ( as previously posted )
6. Adjustable door lock actuators.

Cheers,

Steve.
