Latest phone scam

I received a ph call from overseas today .
The operator (indian accent) told me that my computer had downloded viruses and that they could scan and repair these viruses.

Turns out they just radomly pick you out of the ph book and provide little or no service at all.
You then receive a bill for hundreds of dollars.

Needless to say i said a few choice words and hung up !!!

BEWARE !!

Been around for a couple of years now...they tell you to go to a website and do a "scan" which actually gives them remote access to your PC. I wish they'd just catch the bastards.

Yeah I had one last night and again tonight, asking them what IP address the viruses were originating from made then quickly hang up last night but tonight it took an lesson in aussie slang to get them off.

they called me and said my Microsoft firewall was not working first this that came out of my mouth was thats a bit strange i don't use the Microsoft one they hung up lol

I'd like to know how they get peoples numbers! Old girl got one the other day and said it has happend before, she just said, "impossible we don't have a computer" they hang up and I asked her what that was all about, and sure enough she said it's the new scam going around

I had one ring my dads house a few months ago when I was there and pretended I was buried alive in a coffin like that movie and begged them to help me. The indian chick got really stressed out and didnt know what to do and in the end I changed my tone to deep and serious and said call me again and you will be in the coffin.

Never heard from them again.

I fell for this last month lucky my friend from nigeria said if i gave him a $1,000 he'd sort them out for me. Looks like he came through because i havent heard from them since....

Seems like a lot of people have these people calling trying to con them. I think your Nigerian friend should start calling people who have been had by these shysters and fix their computers properly for them. Could be good for his business!
