Ok so about 2-3 months ago my car started this really loud rattling but only when I first accelerate and then it went away
I worked out t was because of the wiring in my electric seat which I fixed then it went away
Before I worked out it was the seat my car was losing power and would just die and not even crank
Now recently the rattling sound has come back but it's got nothing to do with my seats
& hasn't lost any power or died this time
And it randomly comes at goes which is weird it happens maybe once a week?
And only at 2000rpm or lower once I put the foot down it completely goes away
And when I say this sound is loud I mean it's loud and embarrising lol
Oil filter and oil flush done and refilled with penrite oil only 2 months ago aswell

VZ SSZ Ute
My VZ ute has rattle at low rpm, mainly on acceleration but also on deceleration but not as much. Also around the 2000rpm mark

Mechanic says its either the pilot bearing or the input shaft bearing on the gearbox. I'm taking it to a specialist gearbox repair shop over the next few days hopefully to get it checked out further. Really hoping it isn't the gearbox.

I'll post back here once I know more if you like, could be a similar problem.

I had this and it ended up being a broken flex plate. does the rpm seem to be a little uneven at idle? See my post for the extreme rattle noise.

It's defiantly coming from the front of the car
And also what's weird is if I'm sitting at traffic lights sometimes it's still making the sound which is embarrassing & if I chuck it in neutral or any gear besides drive the sound goes away immediately

Forgot to mention only happens in drive, soon as I put it in neutral it goes way
Also when it starts making the sound there is a massive loss in power so I think it's something abit more serious maybe? Lol

Yep I never lost power, but like you it was always in drive and I couldn't replicate it in park or neutral.
