We had our VT done with a Holden IMPCO system done back in 2001, still going strong (they did the heads and all with hardened valve seats etc) and sounds as clean and well running as my VY Berlina without LPG.
We also got the same kit done to the VY but without the hardened valves in 2007... it has developed a ticking noise as they do but still seems to be running strong. My step dad's VY has factory gas which appears to be the exact same kit... that is now up to 240,000km and running perfect.

On the other hand of all of this, I had a dodgy aftermarket setup on my VS Berlina done a few years ago, and was constantly backfiring despite tuning and doing leads, plugs etc. I ended up just running it on petrol in the end.

In both models, the integrated LPG is excellent (shows LPG on the dash, proper button for switching and has distance to empty). They both retain power really well. I was considering it on my VY Berlina but I may leave it for now until petrol goes up a bit more. I think that if you are going to convert your car to LPG, you might aswell go for the whole factory thing because I can tell you from experience that it runs the best. I understand that this new liquid injection stuff is reasonably good (my dad has it on his VE) however I don't know how the ECOTEC's valves and stuff will cope with it?

Ben.

WK Caprice GEN 111 on Liquid LPG Injection

Hi,
Just had my WK Caprice GEN111 converted to LPG Liquid Injection.
Well.... IT KICKS ASS!
I would estimate 10-15% increase in power.
Definitely worth it :smoking:

Converted an MQ 82 Nissan Patrol with a 283 Chevy V8 back in 04. Tank capacity, 88 usable litres and depending how I drove it, 500 - 600 kms per tank. I only paid around $40 a tank at the bowser. I know it costs a lot more now, but I thought $1,650 was money well spent.

I reckon it is.

OR go for a Impco factory conversion ( I have a kit in stock at the moment).
This is also a great conversion for VY.
It is the factory kit only that will intergrate the dash and petrol ECU with the LPG system. We program the dash and ECU to LPG spec so it will display the LPG tank picture on the dash when on gas and the gas level will be on the petrol gauge when running on gas.
the beauty of the factory system is that the factory ECU runs the gas system totally. So it has a different map or tune for LPG and this will maximise performance.
.

Can you please tell me if the Impco system causes backfiring occassionally on a VY Series 1 Commodore acclaim? Is it better to go with a say Romano Vapour injection sustem if you can afford one? I am tossing up between the two and for the most part I dont care about slight power loss becasue I drive more like a granny. What I dont want is a large sound going off every now and then.

Impco system CAN backfire due to it being a mixer system naturally, but if you have a qualified and experienced person who tunes it, you will find it won't. Our VY and VT both have IMPCO systems on them, and run like an absolute dream. The VY was backfiring in the beginning but after having a proper tune by someone who knows what their doing, the beast hasn't backfired since.

Can someone suggest a good conversion specialist in Brisbane? The prices seem so much dearer in Brissy than in melbourne.
