I paid $200 for the VX club ones I had on my VT, TBH I did it mainly for engine bay appearance (painted them black) but they definitely made a difference to the sound, not a huge one (changed to ballistic cats later they made a massive difference) but it was there. For the money IMO and the fact you'll be DIY'ing, they're worth it. I've since bought a set of VE club ones for my SSV, haven't had them fitted yet though.
Not everyone has thousands of $ lying around for something which doesn't generally give a massive power gain. If they did, they'd be much better off getting an OTR & tune. IMO.
