VL commodore walky tribute LS2 cammed
Hi I recently got a VL walky tribute built we VE L77 LS2 cammed engine and only picked it up last week , the mechanic told me these ve engines run hot. When I’m cruising 80kmh my temp is between 105-107 degrees and when I slow down in a 60km zone in a minute or two my temp is up 115degrees . This can’t be right? All the mechanic keeps saying is that it is normal. I won’t be able to drive through town and traffic light with this car as I’ll surely blow something .

Was the radiator shrouding put in place?
Makes all the air go through the radiator.

115 is a little high, but not in the overheating range.
You could try a lower thermostat.

what radiator is it using?

I’m not to sure to be honest I’m sending car back to mechanic tomorrow- it’s just that he insists this is how they are. If i go in traffic it will go 120c .

What is the max overheating range?

I would start to get worried if it was boiling over.
If it's not boiling over then the radiator cap is containg the system and it's fine.
Boil over should start around 130-140 depending on cap pressure and coolant/antiboil ratio.

If it were me I would want it maxing out around 110 then dropping down to 95 on the thermo cycle.
