5w-30 I believe. Owners manual will say. Was 10w-30 for the ls1 but I use 5w-30 and it's fine. The castrol edge 5w-30 is only a little more than the 15w-40 magnatec.

Remember the upper number is more relevant to the Australian climate. W stands for winter and is the viscosity at like - 20! The upper number is viscosity at +40degC. If the two numbers are close together the oils viscosity is reasonably stable over a larger temperature range

The dealership Im at uses Magnatec 10/30 for all the commodores, 6cyl and 8cyl.

I use it in my own car and have for years and have had zero issues.

thanks for your advice, oil and filters changed, i have noticed a squeal now, it sounds like it is coming from one of the pulleys, cant single out which one though, the higher the revs the louder it is

Most likely an idler or tensioner bearing. Take the belt off and spin them. Listen for noise or feel for play in the bearing.

Also while your at it check the condition of the belt.

[BCorsa, I suggest changing the spark plugs, Don't make the mistake I made and get Holden to carry out a 90k service unless you have a spare $912.00 and they didn't even change the leads..:axe:, Holden charged me close to $400.00 Just for spark plugs alone...Evidently they only need to be changed at this interval.... but still nearly $50.00 each WTF....Also check the trans oil too It needs to be 40 degrees to check it correctly....All the best buddy....[/]B]
