Manual Gear Knob replacement

The silver section of manual gear knob on my SV6 has started bubbling (first was replaced under warranty) now out of warranty , I have found a replacement aftermarket knob , how do you remove the factory unit ? Thanx

I've had the same problem replaced under warranty.

Simple is Grab and pull straight up. It'll eventually let go.
Just brace your self so that you don't hit the mirror when it finally lets go.
Which after market one have you got, as I'll be probably changing mine again in the next year, Mines also out of warranty now.

Is their any decent after market ones that fit nicely?
Not stupid skull,spider types etc.

It is the silver part that bubbles / peels away.

Mine is quite bad.

My mistake, I mistook the auto ones as manual I thought they didn’t have the plastic piece on them so it wouldn’t bubble. Seems to be a common occurrence with these bits of plastic in the VE.
