I coulda sworn someone mentioned Superjoint Ritual!.. I must've been skimmin thru the posts too quick eh? :)
And **** yeh, Rebel meets Rebel was something quite unexpected! but i do like it.

On a side note, I dug up some Witchery the other day.. man these guys know how to thrash.

And to give any indication of the band's sound :yeah::

Tony Kampner: vocals (Satanic Slaughter)
Rille ??: guitar (Satanic Slaughter)
Patrik Jensen: guitar (The Haunted, Satanic Slaughter)
Charles Andreason: bass (Arch Enemy, Dismember, Illwill, Mercyful Fate)
Martin Axenrot: drums (Bloodbath, Opeth, Satanic Slaughter)

Edit: someone HAS mentioned The Haunted, haven't they!? :my:

if your post was in response to mine, then....
i completely disagree with "pre-90's metal is more interesting, more technical and more original"....
speaking as a musician and audio engineering student i would say that:
a) most old school metal bands barely move around the fretboard and their riffs are piss-easy to play....try playing ryan from mudvaynes insane bass lines.

b)i find metal these days has to be evolutionary and step-up to create an original sound....metals' been around for decades, can you imagine how originally you need think to cultivate a good song these days which doesnt sound like something else already done.

i wasnt even actually refering to you personally (or anyone)...i was generalising my comment to everyone that kept goin on and on about how good old school metal is compared to metal these days (oh..and stop calling it "nu-metal").
because they both have their merits and downfalls and i really dont think you can call yourself a metal fan if you cant appreciate both new and old.
I'm sorry I was reading through the thread and I couldn't hold my tongue anymore.
"Most old school metal bands barely move about the fretboard"
What?
Any old megadeth riffs off "peace sells...but who's buying" or metallica riffs off "justice for all" are so much mroe technical and harder to play than anything by disturbed or mudvayne or korn or any of those bands.
This is coming from a guitar player of 12 years.
Ryan from Mudvayne and his bass is obviously an exception and he's great, but any other metal of that style like linkin park and P.O.D or whatever is all the same.
Metal did had to evolve to be different from the old school stuff but it's all the same now (the newer stuff). It's all just the peavey 5150 or Mesa rectifier sound, on drop tuned riffs playing powerchords with one finger with pinch harmonics chucked in for good measure. The guitar solo doesn't exist in any of this newer metal you're talking about and it's sad.

If you want to listen to newer stuff that is original and is actually technical and isn't straying from the old school stuff at all, then listen to...
Children of Bodom
Trivium
Meshuggah (doesn't sound too hard but polymeters like that fry your brain, and they aren't THAT new).
Lamb of god (one of the few bands from this genre that are trying to remain old school in influence but still be original, instead of just sound like every other new band).
Nevermore (not that new again, but definitely original sounding, and much harder to play than any other newer stuff.

I'm sorry I didn't want to start an argument or anything like that, but being a musician myself, I read your post and just had to share my opinion.

depends what your tastes are, i used to be really into metal, played in a band, i'd meet the bands when they came out and once actually had a few drinks with one.. i put down the guitar last year and stopped performing to concentrate on study, 3 days a week of flat out jamming takes it outta ya..

if i were at home i could give you a list of 2000 bands that are good i got something like 16,000 metal mp3s

The genre of it all varies from your old 70/80s rock, to your heavy metal of yesteryear. To some newer metal bands including black metal, theres also a couple of Industrial bands that get a listen to now and again. My list updates every week pretty much, being in the metal/goth scene your mates always give you a cd to listen to and you end up falling in love.
