Well hey, at least it's a manual Ralliart but a VR/VS would've been a better build IMO...

He isn’t resourced to do a VR or VS. they’ll be expensive to do now.

That Magna will be a cheaper option.

As much as I dislike these cars, many don’t. For a project, I can see his thinking. Sean is not made of money. This will be affordable and by his own admission seeks to improve his car skills, so this will allow him to build those skills on a budget.

It’s going to be tough to watch though.

A V6 VR/VS isn't all that expensive but the Magna is a little more interesting, since it's a manual Ralliart as opposed to an auto low spec model you'd get with a VR/VS Commodore, at that price point...

Magna's aren't terrible cars in my opinion, but they're generally like Mitsubishi's Camry, though the sportier models aren't all that bad...

Weirdly, it's a FWD model even though the VRX of the same (or similar era) was AWD...

The prototype was supposed to have AWD though, most likely a cost cutting measure...
