My air box?

Hi guys, just reading all the posts on the 2 hole mod etc and otr’s all day and I’m wondering if an otr is any more effective than the way mine is set up, let alone the 2 hole mod.
I also read about a shroud around the air box but I can’t seem to see it.
Is this normal for a series one vy ss or has someone modified something before?
It was a treasury (govt) car most it’s life and as far as I can tell only has a cat back from previous owner.
I’m thinking stuff the otr and just get a tune? I snapped the 2 fins out of that offset rectangular hole to get a better view.

There should be an intake tube that fits that hole you can see. It bends up and connects to the part you broke to see.

Went out and took these for you. This is on a V8, but the parts fit the same.

That plastic cover fits over the top.

I don’t have the headlight in, so you can see what it looks like behind there. The tube in front is the VZ coolant bottle. To the left of that is the intake tube that bends upward.

I’ve done the two hole mod and you can see that second hole on the right.

Can't really tell if that's had 2 hole mod done to it by those pics.

If still running stock tune,air box etc the 2 hole mod actually make decent difference for a freebie mod...basically tells you airbox is restrictive.

Does otr/tune make a difference...answer is Yes!!!

Will you make noticebly more power with extractors/cats with otr/tune.....answer is Fark Oath!!!1

Bang for bucks is otr/tune/extractors/cats....catback is moreso for sound on stockers.

If it's staying relatively stock or auto or clearance issues look at tri-y pacies/100 cell metal cats or even 200 cell.

Are the vz and vy air boxs’ the same fu man chu? Mine doesn’t look like that at the top.

This is of the V8 model. The bottom part of it and the associated bits are the same. As in, V6 and V8 are interchangeable other than the top part.

VY V6 might not have the coolant bottle but that doesn’t change the layout.

For op to see, undo the 8 or so clips on that panel lift off and they can see everything easy. Or just undo the screws that hold the air box lid down and look inside.

Yours doesn’t have the tube going from the airbox to the hole you are looking through.

It should.

Looking at those pics, your VY SS Series I appears to have some sort of plastic box/duct type thing under the air intake hole you broke the two bars from. Not the same part as the intake pipe on the VZ but there is something there in lieu of it.

It’s literally just one hole in the air box, no tube and it doesn’t look like a tube was ever attached. I need to see another stock vy series one ss.
