Ok im getting the clunks in a few situations, firstly from drive to reverse and reverse to drive. Secondly im getting them when i come to a near stop then accelerate again.

Hard to assess the level of noise like this, can you take a recording? Just that I have had several noises as you describe over the years, all different.

i had the same issues with my previous VZ SV6, i had the diff rebuilt and all was good.

Totally different diff in design and manufacture. Lots of problems, agreed.

Even after the warnings about piston slap i managed to buy a car that has it. I didn't realise you had to have the car in drive for the noise to appear. The lifters are quiet and im happy with the rest of the car but i just want to make sure that "piston slap" will not cause any issues down the track?

Just pulled the trigger on a catback system for my SSV. Im getting it done on Saturday by Castle Hill Exhaust. Custom Dual 2.5" stainless steel :smoking:
