Back in 2022 me and my mate went on a roadtrip through the south east of Australia. Main destination? Summernats!

And to make it a real Aussie roadtrip I decided to buy a car, instead of renting a car.

I didn't have a particular car in mind, as long as it was an Aussie build car.

Pretty tight on a budget, I found a VZ SV6 online.
Looking back, I really dodged a bullet. Alloytec VZ with a 5L40 trans bought at Ozzy Carsales... I didn't know anything about the chains, dodgy electronics and gearbox made of chocolate.

It did ran a bit rough and it was missing some bits and bobs.
When we got in Tassie, we found Holden Dismantlers Tasmania. They had the bits we were looking for and when we asked about the rough running, they checked the car on the obvious weak spots and they were pleasantly surprised by the state of the chains!

Next day they did a full service and more and after swapping the injectors from a running car into mine, the car transformed completely! It pulled like new!

After 2500k's we put the car in depot and from there it got shipped to the Netherlands.

Last week I had the car registered for the Dutch roads and I'm a happy bloke now!

Was it difficult getting it registered over there ?
Not really, all it needed was Lhd headlight beam, a rear fog light and wider angle view door mirrors.

Together with the proof of ownership and the clear title from the PPSR number, it was just a matter of waiting. Government driven businesses are not the most lively businesses over here.

It's still right hand drive.

How did you sort the left hand headlight beam?

Did you use the fisheye stick on mirrors to sort the door mirrors?

Something with turning the inside reflectors in such a way that the beam that shines towards the left hand shoulder goes down and so it will automatically aim the beam a bit to the right hand shoulder. I wasn't there when they converted the headlights.

Most auto stores sell LH bulbs. Usually on the same shelf as LH screwdrivers and blinker fluid. One row over from a long wait.

Standard bulb out, LH bulb in - done.

Ahhh, HDT, I used to drive past there basically every week when I had the house at Mathinna and for years he was on my commute to work. I've bought quite a bit off him over the years. Not so much now as he is pretty far out of the way and remote and where the tar ends and the gravel starts is HDT. .

Of note, that number plate arrangement is new for passenger cars from the start of this month so that’s also a bit special for a Dutch Commodore.
