VFII MY17 SS-V Redline Sedan LMF
Hi all,

Well my car was supposed to go down the line last Thursday and be delivered to the dealer tomorrow...

Had a phone call on Wednesday from my dealer saying it had arrived early!!

It should be on a truck Tuesday morning to be sent to my door.

Here are a couple in pre delivery yard

Just to add to the excitement.......

I paid $63 000.00 drive away in Brisbane for:
VFSS Redline
A6 Auto
No freebees
nearly a full tank of petrol

I've had lots of V6 and V8 Commodores from new (mostly company cars) and second to fifth hand.
Drove a VK company hack from Glen Innes to Grafton and back in 1986 and thought it was the worst car ever made.
Had a VL.........then a new VN V6.......new VP V6...........new SS VT (5.0 litre)......VS, Vu SS utes....VE Calais (6.0 Litre).......

So I have a idea of the history and provenance of this VFSS.........and while I've always had a list of things I thought weren't right with Commodore (they roll too much, they choke the engines, crappy stereos, skinny wheels tyres etc etc) its as if Holden came to me and said:
"You tell us how you want your new SS Redline to be and we'll make it exactly like that and we'll add a few techy gizmo surprises to delight and enthrall you"

This car is that good.

There is no piston slap.
The brakes are smooth and very effective.
It does'nt rattle.
It does'nt whistle at speed.
The My Link system is intuitive and cooperates with my iPhone.
The Exhaust note (Bi-modal fuse pulled) is thrilling
The HVAC is responsive and works well
The windscreen is without any distortion.

The LS3 N/A engine is a delight and I finally have a Commodore that sits up like it should in a corner whilst squatting meaningfully on the outside tyre.

The team at Holden really deserve major kudos for coming up with a car this good for the price they sell at. I'm thrilled and delighted with this SS Redline and could'nt be happier.View attachment 192999

Congratulations on your new LMF Redline! I am glad that your full pack of Commodores disappointed you only to get the right one at the end, and that's the main thing. You did get the race stripes on the sides - did you get the hood stripes also? You also look very happy standing in front of the rear of the Redline ;)

Looks great....The lip spoiler gives it a level of sophisticated sportiness.

Ha Ha!!

That ain't me......I'm much uglier.....

No, I didn't get the hood decals (too much.......too race car), but a guy from NQ posted pics of his LMF with the side stripes earlier in this thread and I thought they looked great, so I put them in the order. I think they break the colour up a bit and look good.

I always accepted my Commodores for what they were, but I also have always had Corvettes and they sort of colour one's view of handling, equipment levels etc.

What I'm trying to say in my post is that Holden has made progressive improvements with the Commodore platform, but the VF Redline is a HUGE improvement.....it really is a well equipped, good handling car worth every cent.

On a side note, saw a VFSS Redline in Spitfire today in on-coming traffic and it actually looked quite striking (overcast so the colour was a bit muted).

Thanks Black-VE

Was hoping we would be in new house before she arrived, but she came early lol.

Just gotta get opticoat and tint arranged now. Target delivery is next Monday with her on the truck tomorrow morning from adelaide.

Getting excited... all a bit surreal. I don't think it will sink in until I hop in and push the button

With the house move coming up I am hoping that the stress from that won't dampen the joy of when it arrives.

There will be plenty of photos once she arrives.. just have to plan the break in process now... eager to get to that 1000-1200 k mark to here her at full song.

I listened to the link on here for the mustang v Redline with regards sound... no competition. Mustang was smashed lol.

So how many of you guys and gals have pulled the relay on the bi modal?

I like the idea but with early starts some mornings I think my new neighbors will quickly come to dislike me lol...

Hobbit

I pulled the relay from the boot fuse panel (ignition on - Sport mode on - engine off). The car was very quiet with the relay in and just right with it removed.

Hey Woodman. Very nice mate. Welcome to the LMF redline club. I believe it was my post your referring to re the side stripe. I'm suprised more owners don't order them. Nice to see another one in Qld. I'm sure you'll agree our sunshine really sets this colour off. Did you pick that plate, mine ends in XDM, if not there are plenty of new car regos up here then since April ? Do you intend to tint the windows and go for the red centre caps ? Enjoy the ride Woodman and totally agree with your holden comments, they saved the best till last.

When I was always going to the Holden website last year to build my 2016 Redline but waiting for the 2017 Redline colours, I would always add these to my configuration:
Track stripes $460*
Phantom Black Lip Spoiler $510*
Hood power decal - '6.2 litre V8' $260* -- not realising that this was in the same position on the hood where the stripes were going to be, as the pic did not show it well enough for me to see

Anyway, I was contemplating the stripes and decals for a long time, but there were 2 things that made me decide not to get them. First, I asked my signwriter friend to possibly give me a quote for a black roof with his best vinyl. He stated that because it is on a horizontal surface the UV rays would probably kill the vinyl and would require replacing in 2 years. Mind you, that was if I had it out in the sun all day, but little did he know I actually squeezed the car in the garage. I was considering a carbon fibre vinyl wrap also, but he advised me against any wrap (now that he has seen the car.) Second, I saw some side stripes on an older Commodore (probably around 10-15 years old) and it looked a little scratched and worn and faded, so that put me off placing any stripes or decals at all.

In hindside, I got the black lip spoiler for free on the MY17 model, as well as the black inserts on the front, the side fender vents and all around the windows, but the MY17 model was rrp$2k extra mind you. I have seen a wider and flatter spoiler on a HSV Clubsport R8 recently, so I will take some pics and maybe upload and compare.

Three or four weeks ago I called my dealer for an update on when my base model SS would be ready and he indicated it would hit the production line towards the end of this week and be ready for delivery next week, or the week after.

Checked again this morning as I have to book leave to travel to the dealership I purchased from and need to plan ahead, and they said everything has been pushed back 6 - 8 weeks. Yet recently noticed on these forums some of you guys have had surprise phone calls indicating your cars are ready earlier -any word from any insiders as to the reasons behind this 6 - 8-week delay, as the answer I got today didn't make a lot of sense.

That's odd as the yard is pretty full atm heaps of redlines so maybe a SS part supply issue???

Thanks for the reply Black-VE. The salesman i'm now dealing with (original guy I signed up with has moved on) said something about there being no room left and parts having to be fitted by hand, but as I said didn't make a lot of sense to me and got interrupted on the call as was at work so couldn't explore further, but explanation sounded a bit strange.

Will ring again early next week to see if I can speak to someone else, but just wondered if my story was an isolated case.
