Hi everyone,
Having trouble with my vu ute, was driving home few days ago, it started kind of dying, but wouldn't stall completely, just like a really bad stumble or a miss. Felt like whole engine momentarily dying though, not just one cylinder. Seemed worse under load. After a couple of k's it would only crawl at idle, and then died altogether.

Now it seems like if I prime it, it will start and run for a second then die.

I can hear the pump priming, it has injector pulse when cranking, has spark, coil pack resistance is fine on both primary and secondary sides, fuel pressure is 35psi when cranking. Replaced fuel filter. Don't know where else to look. Thinking immobiliser but it has injector pulse? Unless ecu lets it fire and then cuts injector it's hard to tell.

guesses only

not the imobiliser -- you have fuel and spark
you confirm all the expensive parts , coil packs
the bem and ecu ,fuel all ok

so you have no start or a arc or something simple --loose wire or wonky fuse
while driving is intimitiant as if its loosing voltage or breaking down under load

compression test the cylinders .. may as well do a few anyway

the ignition part itself faulty maybe
when did you do the plugs and leads
some bad valves or lifters ?

Crank Angle sensor fail ?

Try pouring hot water on the CAS. If this lets the car start, replace the CAS.

could be start relay under hood swap it for the same pin one and see if makes any difference, since you have replaced the fuel filter,i think the injectors may be blocked, someone on here told me to get a screw driver and listen to injectors, one was ticking one was humming,i got a spare injector power plug and one of my old car battery's and got my air compressor out ,brought carby cleaner ,took all the injectors out, sprayed carby cleaner on the injectors then put the power to battery and air compressor to bottom, and watched it open the injector and spray the carby cleaner,a few chunks came out,had 3 which took a few goes to get them to spray.and then put on brand new o rings :) :) problem solved for me.since you have to take the plenum off to do this i spent more time cleaning the inside of the plenum then anything else.
