Aftermarket shifters will have 2 micro switches one as inhibutor other as reverse lights...fairly simple with diagrams.

These days can buy shifters that show shift selection & even hook up light so you cant get defected for it.

Neutral safety switch is violet from the ignition switch into the neutral safety switch and come out of the neutral safety switch, still being violet into the starter solenoid

Mate do yourself a huge favour, while you’re in there put the starter signal through a relay. Hide the relay in the fuse box, cut the starter solenoid wire from inside the engine bay, (its a long way from the key to the natural switch then onto the starter).

It's a shame it didn't get one from the factory on the VK, there was plenty of spare room in the fuse box for it.
