That doesn't sound right for a ecotec engine. Thought they ran more oil pressure than that.
'Tis a tad low....
When driving the gauge pretty much stay around 30-40psi unless really upping it, it may get to get 50 something but that's about it
With already low oil pressure and turning on the A/C which will load up the engine,
no wonder the oil pressure is dropping.

This information is for the VT Series I not the VS, but an Ecotech is an Ecotech
Holden Factory Service Manual said:
Oil pressure regulator Approx 414 kPa (60 psi)
Oil pressure hot 375 kPa (54 psi) minimum @ 1850 RPM and
above

Oil filter by-pass valve Unseats at approx. 69 kPa (10 psi) pressure
differential

When you turn the aircon on, the revs may drop momentarily but then the IAC brings it back up. You 'may' see a small drop in oil pressure but it would only be momentarily at best.

i get approx 65psi cold start up. And about 50psi warmed up in drive at lights. 60+ warm and into WOT.

Fairly sure that is about what I got too.

It doesn't matter where it's powered from. The oil pressure sender is still on your car
and if the the oil pressure is low, as it sounds it is and IF the A/C is labouring the engine, because of a bad IAC,
it will read low when the A/C is turned on because of the lower engine revs.

It would be a good idea firstly, to get the oil pressure professionally checked if it's only at 30 - 40 psi,
as you could be doing damage to your engine.

im sure its going to change with the earth on the block near the sender.currently there will be an offset due to sharing the earth from engine to body/battery with everything ie injector power ignition power and when you turn the aircon on the aircon compressor earth.fitting the earth to the same lump of engine as the sender will reduce earth bias lots so sender volts to gauge doesnt change with aircon on. i run all my gauge wiring to the engine for this reason even when 2 wire senders are being used as earth for it and the gauge have to terminate at the same location to read correct

IF what delco said above is your issue than I would suggest you need to go around all the earth points and make sure they are clean and tight and make sure the body earths are checked as well.

Oil pressure could also be effected by the type/grade of oil used.
