na no need to replace

How can you be sure of that? Gas destroys carbies, depending on how long its been on gas it could well be stuffed....Or need a re kit/build at the very least.

If it hasn't run on petrol for a long time i would say you will be up for a re kit.

Vk commodore, hq one tonner, hj ute,
well when i wrote this what before i started pulling it apart.
it looked worse than it actually was.
from what i could see it looked ****
then i took off the tray, saw he spray painted it over the old paint so i was all rough patches under the paint i thought was rust but i sanded it
back and it seemed fine i think it was just dirt!
the interior is great, seats need to be re done but thats no big deal.
the doors and front left guard need to be replaced.
apart from that the chassis is great. there is no rust on the chassis at all.
its actually quite amazing.
i will be starting to pulll it apart next week so their with be a post in the projects section
on the hq one tonner and my vk commy. and my hj ute
i will post here when i get around to doing it all

dads buying a new carby for his hj ute so ill tell him to get a price for a new one
cheers

nah seriously, dont bother. quaddys dont f' up generally and a kit is only about 50 bucks. there are a few tricks to do to them while they are apart, then you will have a much better carb for a fraction of the price of reco. also i bought a 'reco' quaddy of sues carbys (ebay) and its crap, i had to araldyte all the seals etc again, the vac hose ports fall out, etc etc.

the main thing to check on yours before you decide on rebuild or buy one, is the lower throttle blades. take the carb off and wriggle the throttle blades side to side. if there isnt too much play, then she is good to do a home rebuild.
