Hi All,

I have had issues with this code (p0443 evap system purge control valve 'a' circuit) coming up on the scan tool. The purge valve has been replaced and within 20 or so km it sends the alert back up again. Have checked for any leaks in the hoses, wiring looks ok but at this point im lost........

Thanks guys. So I found that one of the vacuum lines (hardened plastic) was broken inside the sleeve so replaced that, took all the connections off, checked all of them cleaned them with contact cleaner, replaced the fuel cap. Reset it and so far the alert hasn't come back on but time will tell I guess

Have the same issue on my late fathers 05 vz. Mechanic has replaced purge control valve twice, checked all hoses and I replaced the fuel cap. Car runs fine and has only 123000kms on it but mechanic sent it to the auto electrician today and he’s now saying it’s the computer and would cost upwards of $1K to repair. Any other way to fix it cheaper as I need to sell it?

Get it to a TAT member.
You can email them to find a member near you.
They specialise in automotive diagnostics. A network around Australia.

Your current workshop got a code. Treated the code as the cause and solution, not the start of the investigation. Doesn’t have the skills to find out more. Jumps to the most expensive thing in the car after the drive train.

Email or call TAT and get a more competent technician involved.

Thanks FU. What gets me is when the key is in accessory, the system check comes up as OK then when started the fault warning is displayed.
Any advice on a cheap scanner that can delete the code?

Vident i400au with Holden loaded and I’d get a second one as well loaded up depending on what else is in the drive.

That’s because all powered systems are providing the data feedback during the check. Nothing running and ECM says yeah that’s all cool from what I see when nothing is on. Everything checks out.

You start the car and suddenly sensors are plowing the ECM with live data. A bunch of the data is outside set parameters and a code is logged.

With the system at rest there is no data issue. All reads as it should at rest.

I’d suggest there are other circumstances causing the problem.

Get in touch with TAT as I mentioned above. They have members in different workshops all over Australia who thrive on automotive diagnostics, and they are developing their own tech bulletins while sharing info between each other.
