Nice job.I did this years ago with my VT dash. To get a perfectly smooth finish, use wet and dry on the coat of primer and once between coats of colour, degreasing before each new coat. Allow 24 hours between coats to enable the paint and clear coat to harden properly is also advised. It could be the camera, but there are some very slight rough looking bits to the upper left of the mode button...sanding with wet and dry and degreasing betwen coats eliminates that.

Looks damn good though.

Ive done a couple of dash's .. as stated prep is your friend, make sure all grease and wax is off before primer is added. And yes, you do need to sand them down to give the paint something to grip to.

an no it does not reallllly matter what paint is applied over the top of the primer -as you can always add a coat of clear (or 3) to seal the paint and stop it from chipping and flacking.

This paint (see below) is a ceramic paint - water based - called crackle paint - well I call it that. so you paint your dash or consol what ever colour you want exposed underneath, then add the crackle stuff Basicly it looks line clear coat - depending on which way you paint it, up or down or side to side, is to which way the top coat will crack.

So I used chrome / clear crackle stuff / black.. then clear coated the lot.. Came out pretty good, pics dont give it justice at all.
