To the OP, No Preload as they are calling it is a fancy word for sloppy. It means if you grab the sway bar and shake it or pull it side to side it will rattle / slide. The rubber bushes should clamp the bar tight enough to stop it rattling but loose enough to let it rotate and flex as you drive over bumps.
Replace the bushes yourself, Holden now sells a revised bush which is better than the original sloppy ones, and costs $15 for the pair. Undo both then replace both and tighten up. Will take 20 minutes out of your weekend.

thanks mate, am i asking for 'sway bar link bushes'? never changed them before, not difficult ?

Oops, I was talking about the sway bar D bushes, they hold the bar to the chassis, but pedders referred to links, they are on each end connecting the to strut or control arm. They will cost a bit more, maybe $100 ? anyhow, in my case it was the D bushes that were loose so check them out too. Is the noise a metallic sound like someone hitting the sway bar with a hammer ? No pre load still means sloppy so just rattle all the bits you can reach and work out whixh is farked.

yeh its definitely a metalic noise. id describe it as a light knock over small bumps. so if the road is at all uneven i hear this constant knocking.

open your drivers door and push the car side to side on the upper door opening while some one looks and listens and if possable touch the links, should be able to see and hear it.
