Ok cool CSP, what model samsung is it? They make a few 50" Plasmas.
Still not sure about 50" though... i currently have a sony vega crt thats 34" and is a great TV... although 50" is a lot bigger, i could really justify 60", not sure about 50". What about LG's? They have a 50" and 60" for a reasonable price: http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/48ad71e505e6f3022740c0a87f9c0712/Product/View/G6013 (also says its 1366 x 768)

Edit: 52" Samsung with tomtom and belking surge protector deal: http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/48ad71e505e6f3022740c0a87f9c0712/Product/View/G6527GPS2

Have been reading forums and reviews, i think i'll be going for the samsung 5 or 6 series, or 50" Pioneer LX Kuro... i found it for $4,500... but not sure if it's worth the extra cash. What you think?

Mate get the Kuro!!! If it wasn't $7500 when I bought my Samsung , I would have bought it. There simply is not a better plasma (targeted for the home market) around.

If I were buying now and the 50 inch Kuro was that price, it's what I'd buy. Failing that, the Samsung Series 6 50 Inch Plasms.

I currently have the Series 5 50 inch. Main difference is the dual scan 100hz on the Series 6.

Yeah kuro is the way to go, just go to bring myself to part with the cash. Do you have any problems with pixel burn on your samsung? Main reason i ask, is when i leave the house i leave the TV on for the dogs lol, and i don't want it burning into the screen (like channel 7 logo etc). I also watch tv and wii without changing it for a few hours at times.

LCD is more reliable then plasma

yep i agree.
LCD TV is just a computer monitor on steroids, never had a problem with the tv or a comp monitor ever.

Samsung are the only LCD's that display true black.

also, if you consider getting an LG plasma, make sure you get the extended warranty because they are prone to ****ing up.

Sorry but NO tv can display true black.

The OLED screens are going to be the closest things to true black once they become mainstream. Can't wait for OLED - SO many uses!!!

As for LCD being more reliable than Plasma, what do you base that on? LCD is the better technology up to about 42 inches. Beyond that if you think an LCD looks better than a plasma then you aren't looking at a decent plasma. Panasonic don't even make big LCDs for that reason. Plasma ****s all over them in the bigger sizes. Pinoeer is certainly the best but I Couldn't justify the cost so I "settled" for 2nd best - Samsung.

This i'm going the 50" Pioneer LX... some reviews and CSP's love for it have me convinced!

You won't be disappointed. I'm JEALOUS!!! :D
