Has anyone done this or seen it done? I am getting the Calais V wagon in black because it has some features I want over the RS-V wagon, plus I found one at a good price, but I cannot stand plastic body cladding, it looks cheap, it's not as bad with the black car, but I'd like to pop all the pieces off and have them painted if it's possible.

I've never seen it done but I'm sure painting the cladding can be done...

All plastics can be painted as long as the surface is prepared properly and the correct paint is used. That's how the bumpers are painted. I recommend you get the job looked at by a mobile bumper repairer (and painter) and get a quote. You could do it yourself but if you are a first timer you could botch things badly.
