i just installed my sub today! i must say i love it!!
now, when i connected it all up with the fuse on the power cable (near the battery) it wasnt powering the sub....
so i decided to take the fuse off and connect it straight up to the amp, works fine!! no fuses blown or nothing!

why is that? was the fuse faulty??

Probably, or the fuse holder was faulty. I wouldn't run it without a fuse.

Yea probably a faulty fuse holder, I have had a few play up, ended up replacing that fuse with a circuit breaker!
I would replace the fuse asap and not run the system without it though, the fuse is there for a VERY IMPORTANT reason!!!

yes well if there is no fuse there then yes, no blown fuses!
in any part of the wire contacts the car body you will probably have a fire.
disconnect it.

If the wire shorts out it will catch fire rather than blow a fuse... Do you want to risk a fire in your car?

If the fuse itself was fine then you need to replace the holder (how strange!)

For the same reason that anything has a fuse - to prevent damage.

Yes, your amp may run fine but think of the fuse as a seatbelt. You can drive fine without one on, but IF you happen to have a crash (the crash being the metaphor for a short circuit) you a probly going to sustain alot more damage if you dont have the seatbelt on. (although some people will argue that, but thats another story) Anyway, you get the idea.

Car manufacturers dont just put fuses on all the electrical systems because its fun. Its a safetly measure to prevent your car burning to a crisp. And an amp cable isnt any different.

As everyone else has said, if you dont have a fuse in your amp cable and a short occurs you could have some serious damage done to your car.

It is more than likely a faulty fuse.... I have had a few that look fine but if you run a multi meter on them they were naffed.... Also if you test the voltage with the fuse installed you will probably find it is letting some current through like about 4 - 6 volts but not enough to power up the amp...

Just replace it they are like 2 bucks each for a car that wont catch fire
