I'm also planning to do this. Its easy, just bolt on stuff. You need VR/S guards, bonnet, front bar and headlights from a wrecker and fit it all, and get it sprayed to match.
I dont know about the dash though
new thigns possible but at what hassel and cost is another thing. bumper should be easy enuf...dash may be a problem. your looking at all new wiring for a start.
the panels arnt just bolt on, the rad support panel has to be cut back on the edge inside the guards to allow for the vs guards and the head lights need the inner bracket cut off and a new one welded in . the dash is simple but requires a bit of knowledge to get right. if you guys need any help give me a pm and i will help you out as i have just done these mods to my vn.
Here is a pic of mine that i did recently.
It is a vp with v r/s fibreglass guards.
Not for the street. it is just a race car only
The front guards bolted straight on but i cant vouch for the bumper etc as i have modified bar work under the bonnet that is all part of the roll cage and the bumper mounts to this.
either that or go the whole hog and get a vr/vs statesman front end put on a vn i doubt the cost would be a hell of a lot extra than a conversion to a stocky front end
VR does not have the same engine as the VN, they just look the same. VR has different pistons and crankshaft bearings whitch increase the commpression. Also differnt ignition. E.g. different harmonic balancer crank spacing. Thus better fuel economy
