NSW police I'm assuming. This was passed onto me from a mechanic.

It actually seems a bit odd to me ... 5 years of running a fleet filled with a particular model, and then there’s a “recall” when the vast majority of said fleet is about to be replaced?

There were two recalls - one to do the connectors with nyogel on non-police vehicles and rack replacements on police vehicles.

If your rack in a non-police vehicle fails outside warranty, take it to a dealer, agree to the diagnosis and insist on a PRA (outside warranty request). Chances are good it will get approved.

The recall is a few years old now though.
