Ugh—! Wandering around waiting for a coffee this morning and on both rear wheels I saw the ugly residue of adhesive pads where old wheel balance weights had been (I am amazed I haven't seen it before, but then I don't usually ogle my wheels...). I checked with a tyre fitter business nearby to ensure these 'pads' weren't an indicator of the weights falling off while travelling (he laughed, and confirmed they are sticky pads from previous weights). The old weights have long gone, but the ugly brown adhesive sticky stuff remains. So how do I get this irksome, stubborn adhesive off the black wheel surface? I have tried IPA, Zoff (an odorous hospital-grade adhesive remover), metho, thumbnail scratching and a good deal of crude swearing, but the sticky pads remain. Well, brains trust, how would you go about (easily!) removing this residue?
