I reckon you'll need another set of vice grips positioned at 2 o'clock

So this should be OK then

This should be in the jokes/humour section. Is there a moderator on it?

vz sedan vs ute gsx1400
Hi all,

I have a series 3 vs ute in need of a steering wheel replacement. It is not fitted with the optional airbag.

Do I need to replace this with another standard wheel or can I look into aftermarket wheels? Is there anything I need to consider in regards to adr compliance?

I apologise if this has been asked before but my searches turned up mixed answers.

Cheers
i was just browsing the vs section on ebay and came across this steering wheel in there add it says
An aftermarket steering wheel must not be fitted to a car manufactured after 1 January 1996. ADR approved wheels must be used for cars manufactured after 1 July 1990. Aftermarket steering wheels must not be fitted to a car with an Airbag

you think a non air bag fitted vehicle this wouldn t apply

All Passenger vehicles had to be fitted with airbag after 96(later it would appear it was fine to fit faulty ones :D ), utes vans and commercials where exempt....also 99% of whats written on ebay is an opinion rather than factual or for that matter correct (like a typo, its suppose to say 1970 not 1990 in the add):D
If in doubt always contact you local road authority or check their website

Steering wheel centres must be padded - most aftermarket ones aren’t. Not likely to pass a roadworthy with an aftermarket steering wheel. Try to find a non airbag vr steering wheel.

Must be a vic thing as long as the boss is adr approved (they are suppose to crumple on impact) you should be fine....

VRs have a collapsible steering column. Do they still need a collapsible boss?

ADR approved DOES NOT mean that it’s legal to fit the part to your car - only that it can be certified through engineering. For example, airbags from a falcon that are adr approved cannot legally be fitted to a Commodore.
