Check the PCV is not blocked creating crank case pressure and pushing out oil and vapours via the weakest point.

It's a V8 with a manly PCV system, not a poxy V6 with prostrate problems... ;)

No but the various methods of PCV in LS’s are not entirely great either. When they work, when they don’t they don’t.

I dont think it's possible for an LS PCV to be blocked - you'd need to shove a rag in or something other than oil - even sludgy oil - if you can call it a PCV

I would expect oil to be pumping out the rear and front main seals long before it would be pushed out a rocker cover gasket.

LS just uses a restricted hole within the breather tube to regulate flow, and a system of chambers under the valley plate to help catch oil before it leaves which dosnt really do much over time, only way the rocker covers could leak is if the seal is failed or covers not done up tight otherwise there shouldn't be enough pressure in there to push oil out if the breathers are working properly

Well, that’s my point really. Good to do some basic maintenance and get everything clean and physically see it’s all clean and clear. Hoses are clear and not blocked etc.

So many people in general have issues but refuse to do basic checks or maintenance to eliminate very simple causes and continue to do repetitive repairs or chase expensive part swapping.

The LS is a breeze to work on and getting the intake off and the valley cover off is not a big deal. Get a few simple hoses off and even replace them is super easy.

easy test is go for a drive get all warmed up give it some revs and then when u get back undo the oil fill cap and see if there is smoke in there ? the more smoke u see the worse ur breather setup is causing blow by and eventually it will just cause oil to push past the rings and u will be driving a diesel
