In the last couple of days, I can smell rotten egg gas inside my 98 vt Berlina. What could it be?

All jokes aside,

I am tipping the type of fuel you are using,
and an exhaust leak at the manifolds,

That model [inc VX & VY] had a tendency for the exhaust manifold studs/bolts to snap, and exhaust gasses to leak past the gaskets.

I had a similar issue,
I replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets, and the exhaust manifold studs/bolts on my L67.

or

Maybe the EGR valve is jammed or blocked ?
another member maybe able clarify if this can cause it.

Sulfur smell hydrogen sulphide is 100% cat not doing its job properly and converting it into dioxide. If it's not doing it all the time and once in a while I wouldn't worry. But if doing so regularly check things like fuel filter or even a dodgy O2 sensor, and replace first as it's not always necessarily the cat, it's an issue in your fuel system.

Depends on how quick you are pulling up.
When unleaded was introduced, I was driving a 6 cylinder VL and an 86 Ford Fairlane and if I pulled up quick or even reasonably quick the smell from the exhaust would catch up and I would smell it in the cars
Even today, the same thing can happen, or when someone tramps the pedal in another car near me I will smell the rotton egg smell from the fuel.

Cat. has been suggested.
I’d go along with that diagnosis.

Also going to suggest the cats are rooted.
Hydrogen sulphide is a unique smell.
