Nope. I found a set of genuine gears so purchased those instead.

Yeah I'm not sure who sells 3.9s for the ZF that are decent quality? I looked on Google and there are a few complaints about Motive Gear diff gears. I don't know what Mace supplies but they have been out of stock for some time. I may just have to buy the cheaper Motive ones and send them away to be put in the tank. It may also mean sending a diff as well as I'm not sure on the tank process and how it exactly works, and whether they put the complete assembly in the tank and run it until the gears mesh how factory ones would, or if they just put the crown wheel and pinion in there and somehow it does its magic.

@immortality do know much about the tank they use these days to improve the gears and the way they mesh? I've only heard of it and that they use this process now as it's getting hard to find decent gears for a few diffs these days. Apparently they go into the tank for a few days and it smooths out all the imperfections. Well, that's my understanding but I could be wrong.

No idea about that process.

If the gears are been lapped in then I would assume it's been done as just a gear set on a specialist machine, you don't want that stuff running through your diff center and bearings etc.

Yeah that's true. The tank somehow takes off all the rough edges and they come shiny like polished alloy and you don't get the noisy diff problems like you would fitting aftermarket gears as this makes them perfect. Sounds like there is there is some sort of abrasive in the tank? I can't find anything on Google about it, so my knowledge is limited.

I don't if anyone else on JC knows enough about the process and is able to explain it better than I can?

I reckon that might be the machine I have been told about, either that or something very similar.
