The VE HSV GTS will be a sedan... Just like the HSV GTS always used to be. There will be no VE coupe of ANY kind. If the Monaro returns, it will be in name only (ie it will not be Commodore derived).

The latest Motor magazine speculates that the next Monaro (when it does return again) will be a US General Motors made re-badge shipped to Australia. Will be interesting to see what that does to the price! IMHO GM would be better off simply importing the US version, ala Pontiac GTO or Chevorlet Cammaro etc etc...

it would be hard for us to build enough cars to supply North America, Europe, the UK and Australia and anywhere else the car is sold.

We've done it with the Monaro though... Exported to the Middle East, the UK and Europe as the Vauxal VXR and North America (speaking 'continentally' so incl. Canada) as the Pontiac GTO.

Didn't you know the Monaro has a much larger export market than a domestic one? Just like the Statesman and Caprice. There are more of them on the roads of the Middle east than there are in Australia!!!

Yeah and now we no longer have a 3rd shift at the Holden factory...
The Monaro did not sell THAT many in the States and UK... If the 2008 Pontiac GTO is going to be a Monaro also, the sales figures are likely to be much higher than what we saw with the Monaro... and without that 3rd shift.. We will struggle to supply those other markets.

Also it was called the Vauxhal Monaro in the UK...

The coupe wont simply be a 2 door version of the VE like the Monaro was.. The Coupe will be a different car (IF there is one), based on the same platform, but designed as a Pontiac GTO.

Yeah I saw on the front cover of "motor" magazine that they are planning to use the new camaro as the new monaro.

Well you need to do more than ASSUME... There are no concrete PLANS... But is is an option.

Ever heard of the term DEFAMATION? Because that's what you can be sued for if you're deliberately mis-quoting someone... Just wanted to warn you considering I know for a FACT you are misquoting and that it's not hard for something to be done about it.

This forum will be subpoenaed for you email address and IP address, then you ISP will be subpoenaed for your details, then you will be subpoenaed to appear in court. Just so you understand the process.

Libel, slander etc? A misquote is a misquote.

I think the launch of the Commie has got a bit too much dick slapping going on. Damn Testosterone, damn you!

looks pretty bright for holden :D

small sized astra including teh vxr

midsized torana based car which i would think would become teh primary holden model, with commodore only produced in more luxury models.
it could have any of holden 3.2l v6's including a ttv6
this would really be a sensible move for holden, with every1 downsizing, give them sumthign holden to downsize into, its got a hatch so it can still be used by a family and lighter for better fuel economy

commodore with ls7, as well as calais etc

camaro(monaro) with ls9
