In my belief the series 2 v6 exhaust is different.... has 2 cats etc

Which means a different Y piece etc

So I see lots of series 1 extractors around for sale and I wonder if i can get them in my series 2 VY v6

Obviously they wont go straight in, but to do so id imagine id have to get a series 1 Y piece with 1 cat only?

and this would completely screw up the ECU yea cos series 2 expects 2 cats info?

2007 ssv manual
Would only play havoc with the ecu if it has post cat o2 sensors which I don’t believe the vy did, may run into issues legality wise tho?

You're making a mountain out of a mole hill
# Fit the extractors
# Then attach the cars "Y" pipe to the extractors
There is no rocket science involved regardless of your cars "Y" pipe having 1 or 2 cats

Just something to consider:
It may be easier for you to have this done at an exhaust shop in case any welding is required
The exhaust shop would also be able to weld flanges in at the extractor/Y pipe joins

I've got a 2003 VY V6 ute that I use as my daily driver
I found the below info when researching to confirm it was a Series I and not a Series II

So to the best of my knowledge, the below info is correct:
# Not all Series II VY's produced were fitted with dual cats
# The Series II began production in August 2003, and the twin cats came out early in 2004
# The twin cats were fitted to comply with the revised exhaust emission laws
