The pedders repair kit I mentioned which OP seems to have gotten one, is a double sided stud with a thick flange. You cut the old mount off drill a hole put the new one through tighten the nut on the back side then install the shock and tighten the front side nut.

It takes like 10 mins to do.

We went through a post same as this a while back and the opinions were plenty.
If it were mine I would cut the left over stud flush with the raised section where the shockie sits then weld a thread same size in place
Job done
And don't over tighten the fooker again

And FFS disconnect the battery before welding.
That’s probably what I will do, I have all the equipment but it’s at work in kunda park so I’ll have to see if I can manage to get a roadworthy first.

Did the same today
I just ground the main part to a point and welded a hi tensile bolt on
See how it goes i guess
