No real signs to a failing fuel pump, sure sometimes they'll get noisy but most pumps make noise.
1 sure sign is the car will randomly stop and won't start, a whack to the middle of the tank on the bottom and it starts again knocks the brushes back into contact in the motor and it starts pumping again... for how long is pretty much random...
I'd be looking at mechanical parts of the driveline if there's thuds and clunks rather than be looking at fuel pressure problems.
No it won't, it's controlled by the relay which is controlled by the ecu, if the ecu doesn't detect the engine running/turning over it turns it off after 1-2 seconds.
WTF?!?! The program is held on an eprom, in no way is it common for these to fail. There is no bin (unless it's on the floor next to the ecu) I'm guessing you're referring to what you can download with the code to reprogram a memcal, it's only called that because it's a read/rip of the information from the memcal in binary format.

Usually when a fuel pump goes it will just stay on when your priming the car to start... What does it do when you just put the key in on without starting it...

Sounds like your pump or maybe the computers dropped a tune they have bin known to do that... But most likely the fuel pump or reg...
