i have a Fortron product that Holden use when ppl take there cars back to fix this issue.
I used it on my HSV VX R8 and u start the car up, turn a/c on and the fans...you spray this stuff through a vent near the front windscreen where the intake for the a/c is.

will look at the can tonight and post the name.
mate gave it to me from back in the day when he used to work at holden as a mechanic

I have a similar thing, but it's more intermittent, and seems to go away after the AC's been on for a couple of minutes. Dunno if it makes a difference, but I do keep mine on internal circulation more often than not.

its a FORTRON product
its call CLEAN-AIR AIR CONDITIONING
anti bacterial disinfectant

its in a white can and has all the instructions on how to do it

i guess a local parts/car shop would sell it...i dont know
maybe look at fortrons website and see who there distributors are or something...like i said i got mine free off a mate that used to work at holden
