Hi

Doing bumper repairs, metallic silver duplicolor and sepatones acyriliic top coat clear.

When i started to polish it was marking and or top coat coming off. It a few days later and if i run my finger nail across the top coat it marks it.

This on a VF commodore front plastic bumper. I new to clear topcoats... but feels like the top coat is not set??

acrylic has no added hardener to be added in it and can take up to 5/6 weeks to fully go off if not seen a heat/light booth to help purge the solvents in paint out
ALSO check undercoat is a compatible paint to top coat as this will also cause the paint not to dry as solvents cant breath(evaporate) fully and cause problems too.
good luck and have fun with that as I hate painting!

Bumper primer, is that the plastic sealer, adhesion promoter?

Not sure on the bumper primer. Its a filler primer . I did not use a adhesion primer. I ll check out the primer.

must be a compatible undercoat to base and top coats is rule of thumb and surface must be prepared spotlessly before any type of paint application is attempted (solvent wipe/washed just prior to applying any undercoats or other coats) also handy to have a touch clothe handy too.
with this method does not matter what paint you use plastic, acrylic, or 2pac as the most important thing is cleanliness and compatible paints or they blister, peel, and don't dry correctly.
see your local panel beater and ask what paint they use for bumper touch-ups is what I would do if I were you.
good luck.

It wasn’t a 2K where you need to activate the catalyst in the bottom of the can first? Will have another nozzley bit on the bottom.
