Whoever knows me/my car.. I've concentrated a LOT more on making a custom interior, and nice sound setup rather than getting from A to B in the quickest time possible.

2,500 is the estimate I put on the Sound System,
3 Spray Cans on the interior,
countless swear words, and hours spent on the interior.

My initial aim was a nice simple, effective cruiser that turned some heads.

Would have to have at LEAST 17's/18's to keep the traction..

14/15" whatever they come standard with.. would fry the tyres in a blink!

why would 17/18 inch wheels give better grip?

Yes, there's more diameter of wheel to turn so to speak.

not really...using 17/18 would have to use an ultra low profile...in effect your tyre diameter would end up being very close.

Ok.. You tell me how it's easier for a car to spin a 15" rather than a 17/18" tyre.

My mate has a midly modified EL XR6, used to be able to pop the thing on a 45 degree angle going about 60-70km/h in 3rd gear, just be jerking the clutch a bit.. He can't do that with his 18" rims now.

Do you think it might have something to do with Tyre width?

correct me if i am wrong but 17/18 inch wheels give better grip because the tyres are wider than the 14/15 inch wheels.
so therefore bigger footprint = more grip

ahhh, Deano makes the most sense. Nothing to do with the wheel diameter, it's the tyre width. You can get wider tyres on small wheels too ;)
