Had tint on rear screen redone today (see separate thread ).

Bought a genuine decal for handling which I've decided to repaint and refurbish.

Used the black stretch fabric from Car Buildlers. A tin of kwikgrip. New seals from Clark Blubber.

The Clark blubber seals EPDM work a hundred times better than what came as factory.

Drove 1000km in the ute yesterday. Didn't miss a beat. Was fortunate enough to grab 2 rear window mechanisms (tested), a heater fan (tested), a glove box lid and several other odds and ends for the princely sum of 100 bucks...

Pinned my young bloke down to paint the roof , hard lid, 4 new exterior door handles and faded plastic 'sailplane' section in a few weeks time.

Need to sort some replacement gas struts for the hard lid in the meantime.

A few things I noticed.

Despite having had basically the entire A/c system renewed, it still keeps icing up. I'm thinking a temperature sensor may be faulty?

Also, when full, the gauge remains on full for 100-odd kilometres then starts to drop proportionately...

Is that fairly normal? Not really worried, just interested.

The A/c is pissing me off though. It's cost me 800 bucks so far and already had a brand-new compressor when I bought it....

My fuel gauges do that. The tank will fill past where the float extends to. I sussed it out when I did the tank on mine. The tank was absolutely full when I opened it up. Float was submerged.

So until the fuel level drops to where the float is and below, the level reads full.

The sedan does it. The V6 crewman does it too.

The icing up could be due to the evaporator being blocked up with schmutz.

Remove the fan motor and resistor as well. That gives some access in to see the evaporator. I was able to get my phone camera angled to take a photo of what I couldn’t see. With the fan out, I could get my arm down the duct into where the evaporator is. Then used lots of water to try flush out the grot. Then modified a vacuum nozzle down to the size of a garden hose to suck out the grot.

I think a soft 4mm retic tube with a micro nozzle on the end rigged up to a hose would do a good job to clean it out. Just pinch the hose to make it go on and off. Make sure you use a long length.

My young bloke rubbed back and primed my hard cover today.
500 km drive to get there but worth it.

Lid came up smooth and straight. Base coat and clear tomorrow before heading back home.

He also rubbed back and primed plastics at rear of cab roof and c pillars and filled and primed his brother's VS tailgate.

Great effort and much appreciated.

Here's some pics of the renovations.

Prep coat of adhesive promoter, 2 coats of undercoat, 3 coats of basecoat and 2 of clear.

Smooth as silk. Colour match spot on. I was surprised that Impulse Blue is formulated from 9 separate colours...

Realised locks had no keys so dropped them into locksmith today to have replacement keys made up.

Sticker sets it off.

Back of cab came up spot-on matched perfectly.

Need to buff rest of roof and bonnet now to match the new bit...
