Might be time for YOU to contact YOUR local Members of Parliament. Don't laugh or turn off. Members of Parliament both State and Federal are elected to represent YOU and me. If you make a reasonable approach to their Electoral Offices (both will be in proximity to where you live - IF you are on the Electoral Roll) depending on the approachability of your Member(s) you can (initially) either speak directly with them or their Office Manager. Be polite and try to explain yourself clearly and concisely regarding the problem. What happened, who you spoke to, what their response was etc etc. The matter of the vehicle steering locking whilst driving is extremely serious and potentially life threatening. Of course, it goes without saying, you should cease driving the vehicle until the matter has been resolved and vehicle tested (assessed) to ensure that it is safe and roadworthy.
I am aware of situations where people have had great success with resolving problems that no one else seemed interested in. Remember, Politicians love positive publicity. Good luck.

Is this the reason the Americans recalled the flip key and replace it with a non flip key in the g8, in so much as the flip key loses its tension in the spring then folds up and then pulls out of the key barrel whilst driving? Effectively the weight of the key bunch causes the bent key to become a fulcrum and it pulls out. Just theorizing really.

Your member must be a lot more useful than mine In the 3 years I've lived in my town I've never ever seen its office unlocked .

Hi All,

I know its been a long while since i have been on here - but if i can make some spare time i promise i will return.

Have experienced a small problem with my VE Commodore. Without going into the full details what happened was that the steering lock engaged while i was driving. I obviously lost all steering and all control. I hit the brakes but it ended up hitting the gutter.

Luckily i guess that it just ended up in the gutter and not killing people by mounting the kerp or entering oncoming traffic.

Holden have said that they could not replicate the issue so hence there is no issue. So they arn't willing to take it further or even repair the damage under warranty. This i find is just downright scarry as i'm affraid of it occuring again.
I am in the process of speaking to spcialist automotive engineers and locksmiths about it and am going to try and take it furhter.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar?

Hi
I’m driving a Holden Calais VF V8 2014 , on Friday 13-April 2018 ( Yesterday)when I was driving it doing 80Km and my family in the car the steering got lock. Lucky I did manage to stop on the side of the road.
Please if you can help me and tell me how did you fix this issue.
My car still in warranty by the way , I did call my dealer and they told me they never heard about this issue before
Thank you
Nabil

Hey Nabil,
I think this thread covers what I did fairly extensively.
All I can really say about it now is that the barrel was replaced 8 years ago and I have not had an issue since.

You might want to think about filing a report with the Aus Government - see link below. Wont get you anywhere, but when writing a complaint to Holdem you should mention that you have filed a report. This might just get Holdem to take it more seriously (and pigs might one day fly).
