Doesn't make him full of it at all. WA cop wasn't aware that SA vehicles no longer have stickers and that is what he was nailing him for. Read it again, he says the WA cop told him he didn't have the technology to check SA registrations which sums up what the OP's report states, that the message hasn't filtered through to other interstate Police.

Traffic cops are no different than the mob. Only the cops have the right away to fleece people of there cash. I especially love the signs that say Speed camera ahead "for road safety" Biggest load of **** ever. Speed camera will do absolutely nothing to save a friggin life. It's all about revenue collecting, and we let them do it. Thats all this cop was doing here in this instance aswell, probably got a chip on his shoulder too.

in Qld you can get fined for not having a label on

$80 for not putting the new one on and $80 for not removing the old one

Dang, I've thought for years it was just illegal to have the old one affixed.

I got done a couple of weeks ago for un-reg by 4 days, no sticker is throwing me, (still no excuse I know, dont flame me), and the cop used his iPhone app to tell me I had no rego & fine me for it. So then i had to download the app & pay for my rego before I could then drive off.

Therefore the answer is give interstate cops ipad/iphones to check SA regos

Having to rent cars on numerous occasions, there are more and more supplied without stickers. The rental agency tells you they are not required. Check with Vic Roads and QLD Transport and they say they are. Check with QLD Police they say they are. We refuse to take the vehicles without rego stickers rather than have an extended conversation trying to establish if a rental is registered.

I don't believe the RTA are trying to save money, we pay for them when we pay our rego.
Lets see if the rego is any cheaper without the sticker.

From experience here in WA, rego cost didn't fall when they stopped issuing the stickers. The whole idea is to reduce government expenditure....not save us minions any cash.
